Sky Fire

We changed campgrounds in Des Moines, primarily because I found a better one that was tucked into a lush, green forest.  Packed up the campsite while Tracy was on a job in town, moved the trailer 7 miles away, and set up again... exhausting.  When I picked her up, camp was all set up.

It's been oppressively hot and humid this week... high '80s and 90% humidity... hot and sticky.  Wednesday night, the storms rolled in, and are supposed to be here through Saturday... so it was our first ride though lightning and a pretty gnarly storm... which the dogs, in particular, didn't really like that much.

It did serve to break the humidity a little bit, but that's about it.  After an hour or so, it was right back.

We also have been getting nocturnal visits from our friendly neighborhood Trash Pandas.  We (foolishly) have been storing plastic storage containers under the trailer with the dog and cat food, which the TPs were very grateful.

Last night, we had a wonderful dinner with the owner of the firm that Tracy's been working with out here... our first time to meet him in person.  Wonderful guy, LOVES Tracy, and wishes he had 10 more like her.  We talked and laughed for hours, and left feeling like we have finally found a "home" for her.

Today is "laundry day," after she finishes with court this afternoon... then we're tentatively planning on heading out to North Carolina... taking the slow, meandering, scenic route South to Tennessee, then over on I-40.

Stay tuned!
